I managed to make it three days in California before going to In-N-Out. Usually, I am looking for one as soon as I pull out of the airport parking garage.
All I can say is thank goodness they don't have these in our area or I would be in trouble.

That closeup of the burger is just mean.
Some of us are still 3000 miles away from the closest In-N-Out.

I totally understand feeling nostalgic for something that is only available in one part of the world.
And I know that In-N-Out holds a very tender spot in many people's heart. Heck, before their expansion, I took many a box load of animal style burgers on a plane from LA to my friends up in SF.
But that was all before I had Five Guys. Sure they are different. Some people have argued that you can't compare the two. I think those people are wrong.
IMHO Five Guys is better. No shakes at Five Guys. No "animal style" at Five Guys. But better, beefier burgers. Richer, softer buns. And fries that are just in another league from In-N-Out.
There. I said it.

I have never had one, but this really makes me want one. (I can seeee you, toasty bun-innards!)
I can't wait to see what else you ate!

I've eaten many a burger at In-N-Out and let me tell you Daniel, Five Guys is no In-N-Out. The Guys may have "richer, softer buns" ... but the toasty, crispy buns at In-N-Out are what you need to stand up to a big patty and the sauce. And if you don't like the fries at In-N-Out just ask for them extra crispy.

As a resident of Southern California I have a lot of expierence with this subject.
In-N-Out has it down to a science and it is always good no matter where you go or what time.
You can get a good burger in lots of places but there is only one place to go for In-N-Out!
My boy scout troop demands In-N-Out immediately after every outing or camping trip. Kids growing up here treat it almost like a ritual.

In and Out is way better than five guys. Not to mention, Five Guys cost twice as much. I flew two double doubles from LA to Albany and I gotta tell you, they still tasted better then Five Guys.
