I’m up against so many deadlines right now that I’m reduced to thinking of time in one-hour segments. Finish one thing, move on. Finish the next, move on. It’s been like this for days, and I’m running out of stamina. So I did the only logical thing: I went out for brunch with a good friend and drank mimosas.
For one blessed hour, OK, OK, for two blessed hours, I didn’t think about tryptophan or leptin or any of the other terms that I’m supposed to understand but am just figuring out how to spell. I didn’t worry about the papers I need to grade or the proposals that need polishing. Breakout boxes? What breakout boxes?
What I did think about was that recent conversation on All Over Albany where our region’s self worth was some how reduced to a debate over whether or not we have decent places to go for brunch. I actually spent a good 3 minutes fretting over whether we have enough decent mimosas and what it might mean for our future if we don't?

In the grand scheme of things, I’m a lot more worried about what all those high-tech hipsters will think of a region without an abundance of good Thai delivery. But to those worrying about where to bring someone for mimosas, may I suggest Ravenous in Saratoga Springs. The mimosas are made with fresh-squeezed orange juice, champagne, of course, and topped with a strawberry. Did I mention the fresh-squeezed OJ? Very, very diverting.
So, no worries folks. At least in the mimosa department, we’re covered. Whew!
I'd very much like you to join the conversation. The only rule: treat everyone else in the conversation with kindness and respect. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks!

I don't care much about brunch, as much as I care about the lack of (you got it) decent Thai restaurants, as well as the complete lack of Ethiopian, Senegalese, and Malaysian. Though I might be considered somewhat of a "high-tech hipster," you don't have to be one of those, to appreciate good food, and I'm really sick of going to the same places over and over again.
